Melchizedek's story represented a picture of Jesus, whose priesthood is without beginning and without end. Death does not prevent Jesus from continuing in the Priesthood as it did the human priests. The former regulation (the Old Covenant) has also been replaced with a better hope through the New Covenant, which allows us to draw near to God. Jesus is not a high priest based on genealogy, but based on the power of an indestructible life.
