Richard Peifer

Richard PeiferRichard Peifer serves as the worship leader and co-teacher at Metro Bible Fellowship.

His guiding principle is found in Paul's recommendation to the Romans: "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will" (Romans 12:1-2).

Richard was born in Riverside, California. Most of his childhood and teen years were spent there, with the exception of five years spent in Hawaii when his parents moved to work at a church-run hospital.

Raised in the Seventh-day Adventist church, Richard grew up with a keen understanding of and desire to keep The Law. With a strong performance orientation, he excelled in school and with music. He graduated from college with a degree in Ministerial Studies.

Six months of ministerial work convinced him what he already knew in his heart—he had nothing that really mattered to offer people. He knew lots of theological and biblical facts, but there was no reality of the abundant life Jesus promised.

Richard left the ministry in 1977 to work in the audio contracting field. This led to an interest in computers, and he earned a Masters degree in Computer Science in 1983. He went to work for Hewlett Packard and spent the next nineteen years in high tech.

During this time, Richard and his wife, Lois, studied to discover what they really believed. The Holy Spirit revealed the meaning of the Bible to them. In particular, they studied the New Covenant, forgiveness and eternal life. They left the SDA church in 1991.

A friend recommended that they listen to some tapes from a conference put on by People to People and Bob George, because, as she said, "He teaches the same thing that Richard teaches." Richard and Lois listened. They read Classic Christianity. In 1992, they went to a conference at Glen Eyrie in Colorado Springs. They received much confirmation that they were not crazy to believe as they did, and they met many wonderful people who had stories similar to theirs.

In 1995, People to People asked Richard to provide music at a conference in Denver. After that conference, they asked him to provide music at all the conferences, so he began to travel with the team while continuing his work at Hewlett Packard.

The desire to do ministry never went away. In fact, the more he learned about the love and grace of God the more Richard wanted to help others understand what Jesus has done for them. In 2001, he asked Bob G. and Bob C. if they knew of ministry opportunities anywhere in the U.S. They invited him to come to work with People to People in Dallas. In 2002, Lois and Richard moved to Texas.

Today, Richard is the co-host of the radio program, People to People, and oversees the computer systems for ministry.

Lois and Richard have two grown, married children and one granddaughter.
